Margo is joined by Margaux Kent, Co-Founder of Peg and Awl. Margeaux and her husband Walter created Peg and Awl without a plan but rather a fortunate pairing of two minds, different but in sync. Together with a team they create from olde things, treasures found and recovered from misfortune and neglect, relics of the unusual, the confused and the macabre, cut and pulled and built into wearable curiosities, inscribable keepsakes and usable, long-lasting treasures.

Margo and Margaux discuss:

  • How Peg and Awl began and the first product they listed on Etsy
  • How she manages a creative business, working with her husband, homeschooling, and more
  • The importance of tooting your own horn and promoting oneself and how she tries to instill this into her kids
  • Peg and Awl jewelry creation and why they do everything in house
  • Discovery: of new mediums and of understanding new and different topics
  • How listening to poetry brings her a sense of peace
  • Aphantasia and hyperphantasia
  • And more!

After nearly bursting their house with the weight of materials, makers, and ideas, in 2012 Margaux and Walter decided to move Peg and Awl to the Atlas Casket Factory and in 2017, growing pains led them to seek new land. During their voyages, they discovered their new home, the Foundlings Building, in Port Richmond, Philadelphia which they consider an inspiring place to create more treasures, photographs, jobs, and joyful days.
